I am teaching community health worker students at a school run by our partner denomination. In addition to impacting the students themselves, many of which come from nominal Christian backgrounds but do not have a saving faith in Christ, I also encourage those who know Christ to practice medicine in a way consistent with the gospel and share the gospel with patients and co-workers as part of their work. Currently, I teach Anatomy and Physiology to 1st-year students in a 3-year program.
It allowed me to come to the mission field years earlier than I would have been able to if I was paying off my medical school loans. This is a huge help as there is no substitute for experience in missions. No amount of training or preparation can replace what is learned by actually living and working in the field.
