Janet Crow
MDDr. Crow is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at University of California San Diego. She is involved in education of residents and medical students, clinical research, and outpatient care of patients from a diverse ethnic and socio-economic background. She is active in her church working with children and leading small groups, and has participated in several short-term mission trips.
Ken Dormer
MS, PhDDr. Dormer is Professor and Chair of the Integrative Physiology & Pharmacology Department at Liberty University’s College of Osteopathic Medicine. A world-recognized expert in hearing technology and cardiovascular research, he co-founded three not-for-profit corporations, two in Africa, to promote medical teaching and research, as well as the Hough Ear Institute (HEI), a Christian, otologic research, education and humanitarian organization. He is co-inventor of several FDA-approved implantable hearing devices and co-founder of NanoMed Targeting Systems. He has served with MAP International Board and its International Medical Fellowships, and Pan African Academy of Christian Surgeons and seeks to honor Jesus Christ through medical missions and preparing future physicians for serving the poorest of the poor.
Douglas A. Drevets
MD, DTM&HDr. Drevets is Professor and Chief of Infectious Diseases at the Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is involved in biomedical research, education, and clinical care of patients including those with HIV/AIDS. He is active locally in Young Life and has participated in several short-term mission trips.
Erin Goeldner
Ms. Goeldner currently serves as a Research Administrator in the Department of Surgery at University of Wisconsin – Madison. She previously worked with CURE International as Vice President of Operations and led financial strategy, hospital operations, and member support for staff and short-term volunteers in the Dominican Republic, Afghanistan, Malawi, Zambia and beyond. Ms. Goeldner lived in Malawi and Afghanistan from 2002-2007 where she worked in public health and hospital management, resulting in an enduring commitment to international healthcare training and service delivery. She holds a BA in Sociology and Urban Studies from Wheaton College and enjoys exploring locally and globally with her husband, Terry, and their two children.
Ken Gross
MDKenneth P. Gross, M.D. is a native of Cambridge, Nebraska. Ken earned a B.A. in Philosophy at the University of Nebraska in 1984. He then completed his medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1988. Ken completed an internship in General Surgery at the Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in 1989. He then completed an anesthesia residency at the Brigham and Women's Hospital in 1992. Ken was an Instructor, Harvard Medical School faculty member from 1992 to 1996. He enjoyed teaching residents and lecturing on clinical topics. His anesthesia specialty expertise is cardiothoracic anesthesia and regional anesthesia. In 1996, Ken started private practice in Lincoln, Nebraska. Ken is Board Certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and Board Certified by the National Board of Echocardiography in intraoperative Transesophageal Echocardiography. Ken has been with Associated Anesthesiologists, P.C. since Sept.1996. In addition to private practice in Lincoln, NE, Ken has over 30 years experience in international volunteer medical work traveling in over 20 countries and 4 continents. He has been a board member for several nonprofit organizations. Ken is cofounder and managing partner of JLS Interactive LLC, a medical education website company with 2 websites, www.e-echocardiography.com and www.ezcompetency.com. These websites serve a worldwide medical audience for continuing medical education. His company owns several trademarks and a patent pending. Ken has also served in many administrative roles in Associated Anesthesiologists, PC, Bryan Medical Center and Bryan Medical Center Board of Trustees. Ken is married with 4 grown daughters. Personal interests include fly fishing, cycling, swimming, travelling and spending time with his family.
Shane Higby
Shane is the Vice President of U.S. Product Marketing for Home Appliances at Samsung Electronics America, based out of Ridgefield Park, NJ. Prior to joining Samsung in 2010, Shane worked for Sony Electronics Inc. for the previous 16 years. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Messiah College. Shane and his wife Amy along with their five children live in Ramsey, NJ. The family actively volunteers at their home church, The Plant, in Mahwah, NJ, where they have attended for 8 years. Prior to attending The Plant, the family attended Wyckoff Assembly of God, where Shane served as a Deacon for 4 years and on the Elder Board for 5 years.
Michael Johnson
MDDr. Michael Johnson has been involved in overseas missionary work since 1984. The Johnsons' ministry has taken them to The Sudan, The Democratic Republic of the Congo (formerly Zaire), Ethiopia, Uganda, and Kenya where they worked for 20 years, as well as short-term work in Haiti. God gave them the ministries of The Least of These, and A Prepared Place. The Johnsons returned to the United States in 2010, and currently reside in Delaware. Their ministries now include healthcare for the ‘medically indigent’ in Philadelphia at the Miriam Medical Clinics which they co-founded, counseling to the incarcerated and as the medical director for the Hope Pregnancy Center in Philadelphia.
Yong Lee
MDDr. Yong Lee became a Christian at U.C. Berkeley during his undergraduate studies. He attended medical school in Brazil, his native country. He trained as a family physician at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Lee has served on various medical mission trips and spent a decade in China as a tentmaker teaching the Gospel. His family relocated to San Diego in 2017. In addition to working full time as a physician, he continues to be involved in teaching and preaching both in the US and in China. He feels privileged to be a part of Medsend.
John T. Nwangwu
MD, PhDDr. Nwangwu is a specialist in infectious diseases and epidemiology and a consultant in infectious disease control to the World Health Organization. A tenured professor at Southern Connecticut State University, he also teaches at Yale University, Johns Hopkins University and Harvard University. He has served on the board of the International and National Organizations of Infectious Disease and Epidemiology and on advisory committees of the National Institutes of Health, as well as with the African Christian Fellowship, Overseas Ministries Study Center, Christian Medical Fellowship, Faith Care and Kateri Clinics. He is married to Dr. Chioma U. Nwangwu and they have three children.
Michael Rousseaux
MSWMichael is a partner in the law firm of Elam & Rousseaux, PLLC, located in Charlotte, NC. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Gardner-Webb University, and a Juris Doctor from the Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law at Campbell University. He and his wife Cathy live in Weddington, NC, and have two grown daughters, both of whom live in the Charlotte area. He has been a member of Carmel Baptist Church for the last 30 years, where he has served in a number of different areas, including as a Deacon and Elder. His personal interests include tennis and DIY construction/woodworking.
Chris Walker
MSWChris is founder and CEO of Tribalhealth Alliance, LLC a unique Native American owned healthcare consulting practice. The primary focus of the firm’s work is engaging with tribal health care systems and the Indian Health Service to provide work processes to improve the overall health status of Native American communities through organizational health systems re-alignments, strategic planning, community needs assessments and health care delivery expansions, revenue enhancement, HHS-OIG Compliance review and training, and preparation for accreditation. Prior to establishing his firm in 2007, he was a Bush Administration Presidential Appointee with HHS – Indian Health Service as Senior Advisor. Chris is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, and previously served as the Executive Director of the tribe’s health care system in northeastern OK. Chris and his wife of 43 years, Dianna, have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. He and Dianna enjoy travels to various tribal communities, spending time in their southern CO retreat, and assisting others through ministry opportunities as the Lord provides.
