Christian Nationals

Long-term Sustainable Solutions

The need for healthcare professionals in developing countries is staggering. Statistics from W.H.O. indicate 57 countries with fewer than 2.3 nurses, doctors, and other medical personnel for every 1,000 people – too few to deliver even the most basic level of care. Alarmingly, the persecution of North American faith-based missionaries is increasing as more countries are restricting access.

Why Christian Nationals? →

To navigate these challenges, we developed a path to help a whole new category of Christ-following healthcare missionaries: national doctors. These African, Asian, and Middle Eastern doctors are called to serve people in need in their own countries through healthcare ministry – but they need MedSend’s help to fund their medical training.

Training Tomorrow's Leaders

The MedSend National Scholars Program supports Christian national doctors in their advanced medical training. We partner with international associate organizations operating Christ-centered residency programs focused on professional training, spiritual development, and leadership preparation for doctors who have completed medical school. These programs recruit and train individuals with strong intellectual abilities, deep faith in Jesus, and a commitment to serving in areas of great need in their home countries and they are reshaping the future of medical missions in their home countries.

The Launch Project

After graduation, Christian Nationals who feel called to work in mission hospitals and clinics serving the most vulnerable and under-resourced areas will be eligible to apply for a salary subsidy through The Launch Project. This program helps the National Scholar transition into missionary work by providing financial support for three years.

Real Stories, Real Impact:
How MedSend Is Changing Lives

At the point I thought I was giving up, there was MedSend. They helped me through paying all my tuition and monthly stipend for those four years. Without them, truly, I don’t know—maybe I would be teaching mathematics. Thank you, MedSend. Thank you to all the donors, everyone who helped not only me but so many other [national] doctors out there.

My name is Faith Lelei, and I am a MedSend beneficiary. I graduated in 2019 and currently serve at Kijabe Hospital in Kenya. I wish to thank you for supporting and giving towards this cause that allows us to train and complete our residences in our home countries and thereafter be able to serve in our different areas of calling. Thank you so much– it is not in vain.

Family Medicine physician, National Scholar graduate, and Clinical Director of AIC Kijabe Hospital
The advanced surgical training National Scholars receive from MedSend Grant Recipients and our partner organizations makes a real, tangible impact on the lives of patients today that transforms their futures. Your financial support of MedSend makes it possible for children like those in this video to live with renewed health and the knowledge that God sees and cares for their suffering. Special thanks to CURE International for the amazing testimony from these National Scholars and children
