November 4 - 6, 2025 | Louisville, KY | Southeast Christian Church

This year’s invitation-only Summit is centered on the theme:
“Healing the Nations: Past, Present, and Future of Medical Missions.”

Our international speakers will challenge and inspire us as we envision the future of missions together. This year, we’ve refreshed the schedule to allow for deeper engagement: shorter plenary sessions, expanded breakout times, and more opportunities for meaningful interaction and networking.

If you’re staying through Thursday, we’ll conclude with worship led by Matt Berry, a final Bible study with Rev. Stan Key, and closing reflections from Doug Lindberg and Todd Sprinkel.
We look forward to welcoming you to this special gathering of mission-minded leaders united in the calling to bring healing and hope to the nations.

1:00 PMPlenary 1: Building or Diminishing: The Transformational Impact of Leaders Who Expect Excellence and Cultivate Confidence
Description:
With almost every interaction, we’re either building or diminishing those we lead – making them feel more confident, more capable, or more valued or less of all those things. We will dive into proven concepts that help us become intentional builders, looking at how God created us and the neuroscience behind it to Biblical principles of how “The mouth speaks what the heart is full of” Luke 6:45. We will finish with well corroborated research around proven leadership skills that grow us as leaders and help to build trust with the ones we lead and work with. “Building and Diminishing both increase at compound interest” (C.S. Lewis – Paraphrased)

2:00 PMBreakout 1A: Institutional Moral Injury: Institutional Contributors vs Institutional Support
Healthcare Missions is a moral injury factory.  And moral injury has led to grievous outcomes in the lives of our healthcare missionaries.  Our institutional practices may lead to moral injury when they violate the values of our missionaries.  This becomes far more likely as we work with partners from other cultures with differing values.  On the other hand, our organizations and teams may proactively develop practices that prevent some moral injury and help ‘metabolize’ this inevitable spiritual toxin before the injury becomes disabling.   Let’s learn from each other’s experiences, trials and victories.

2:00 PMBreakout 1B: Influence: An Exploration of Just How Much Leadership Matters
Description:
An interactive presentation covering social science research on the way we influence those we lead and the “power” we have over them. We will look at some common characteristics of Transformational Leaders and the important self-directed way we can all grow as leaders that are able to get discretionary effort from those we lead. Jesus is one of the greatest examples of a transformational leader; we will discuss what we can learn from Him. My goal is for you to walk away with an understanding on how much leadership matters and at least one thing you can do to develop as a better leader for the people in your life (whether personal or professional relationships).

Description:
We will explore recent past, present, and future paradigms of healthcare missions within Africa. Assessing the changing ecosystem of healthcare missions in Africa through looking at the roles, responsibilities, and expectations of each part of the system. 8:00AMBreakout 2A: Telemedicine Kiosks and Home Health Delivery as a Self-Sustaining Mission Model
Description:
As global restrictions on free speech and evangelism intensify, missions are evolving to find innovative ways to share the message of Christ. One such approach integrates healthcare and ministry through telemedicine kiosks and home-based health services, offering a discreet yet powerful means of outreach. In India, we’ve developed a holistic telemedicine model where trained missionary technicians operate kiosks equipped with diagnostic tools, AI-supported algorithms, Electronic Health Records (EHR), and access to a nationwide panel of Christian specialist doctors. These kiosks serve as relational touchpoints, providing physical care while subtly embodying Christ’s love. Follow-up care continues in patients’ homes, deepening engagement. Though not yet fully self-sustaining, this model is significantly more affordable than traditional missions and enables impactful, compassionate service in regions where open evangelism is not possible.

10:20 AMPlenary 3: The Future is Now – Scaling Compassion and Efficiency to Transform Medical Missions
Description:
As the landscape of global health shifts, medical missions must also evolve. In this plenary session, Echo VanderWal, co-founder and executive director of The Luke Commission,
presents a proven, scalable model for transforming healthcare delivery in resource-limited
settings. The model is built on three synergistic pillars: a culture of compassionate care
shaped through intentional staff development, a robust operations software platform, and a
logistics and infrastructure backbone that ensures reach and reliability. The first pillar shapes
resilient, mission-aligned leaders through structured onboarding, intentional culture-building,
and holistic team care. The second—TLC’s award-winning digital platform—powers
electronic health records, supply chain and HR management, clinical workflows, and productivity tools that improve efficiency, accountability, and patient outcomes. The third bridges the gap between digital systems and on-the-ground realities through connectivity, telehealth, and last-mile logistics. Collaborative partnerships with governments, global
funders, and health institutions are essential to fueling this transformation. Through partnership and purpose, this model is ready to shape the next chapter of global health.

11:20 AMBreakout 3A: Treatment of Unwanted Sexual Behavior and Addiction with Global Workers
Description:
The pervasive global reach of pornography and the challenges of sexual addiction are increasingly impacting individuals across all strata, including global workers. Over the past several years, Valeo has observed a steady rise in both the frequency and severity of unhealthy and unwanted sexual behaviors among this population, affecting adolescents and adults, men and women alike.

Our foundational premise for this session is that pornography use and sexual addiction, or any persistent unwanted sexual behavior, often serve as maladaptive emotional coping strategies. These behaviors are often a learned, albeit unhelpful, means for individuals to manage internal distress, seek specific emotional states, or find temporary relief from pain and trauma.

During this session, we will explore current trends in this area and discuss effective treatment approaches. We will present Valeo’s treatment process and look at other valuable resources to support the ongoing care and recovery of individuals struggling with sexual addiction.

11:20 AMBreakout 3B: Leading Through Crisis and Opposition
Description:
Practical wisdom for Christian healthcare Leaders under pressure
How should we respond when faced with staff strikes, persecution, government pressure, or
corruption? These real-world challenges often catch even experienced leaders off
guard—and few training programs truly prepare us for them. This session offers a humble but hope-filled space to explore how Christian leaders can navigate internal and external crises with wisdom, faith, and resilience. Through shared case
studies—both from the facilitator and participants—we’ll reflect on what worked, what didn’t,
and why.

You’ll learn a simple framework for responding to threats while staying rooted in biblical
values. We’ll also identify practical steps for protecting teams, communicating clearly, and
making God-honoring decisions under pressure. Most importantly, this session will help build
supportive relationships with others who understand the weight of leadership in hard places.
Whether you’ve faced these challenges before or want to be better prepared, you’ll leave
encouraged, equipped, and connected for whatever lies ahead.

Plenary 4: Strategic Priorities in Medical Mission
Western-led mission models have had a huge impact and have fuelled the exponential growth of the global church and its impact on healthcare. In our increasingly multipolar world, we now need to build on establishing sustainable, indigenous-led Christian healthcare movements rooted in the biblical principles of preaching, healing, justice, and deliverance. This will involve starting and strengthening national CMDAs, fortifying Christian undergraduate and postgraduate professional training, supporting bi-vocational tentmakers, building partnerships with national Christian healthcare associations, training in evangelism, discipleship and leadership for indigenous healthcare professionals, capacity building for church and mission hospitals, embracing telemedicine and innovative use of technology and new investment strategies powered by an overflow of Christian generosity.

3:45 PMBreakout 4A: Mercy Medical Center Cambodia
Description:
Tim and Marjie Benadum, founders of Mercy Medical Center Cambodia, will share key insights from their ongoing journey of intentional leadership transition. As they work closely with a succession coach, the Benadums are learning that succession isn’t just a process for when you’re stepping away — it’s a mindset rooted in the belief that long-term impact matters. It is a legacy-minded approach to healthcare missions. In our sincere desire to serve God with our gifts and skills, it’s easy to jump straight into action. But how often do we pause to consider the bigger picture? What if God intends our service to extend beyond our time? How would that perspective reshape the way we begin, lead, and eventually hand over our work?

This breakout session will explore how the principle of 2 Timothy 2:2 — entrusting the mission to faithful individuals who will carry it forward — can be applied in the context of healthcare missions. Together, we’ll consider how to build a legacy where the healing of bodies, minds, and spirits continues long after our personal involvement ends.

Doug-Lindberg-MD

Douglas J. Lindberg, MD
1977 - 2025

MedSend joins our friends at CMDA in honoring the life and ministry of Dr. Doug Lindberg, who went to be with his Savior on Saturday, August 30 after a battle with cancer. His tireless devotion to both CMDA and the Center for Advancing Healthcare Missions was inspiring, as he equipped healthcare professionals and students to intentionally live their lives fully surrendered to Jesus and His kingdom. Included in his work were the Remedy Medical Missions Conferences, Pre-field Orientation for New Healthcare Missionaries, 5:11 Groups, the Capstone ministry, the Journal Club, the Your Call blog and more. In addition, Doug was key to the development of several domestic missions scholarships at CMDA.

We will miss Doug’s sense of humor, especially his collection of great “dad jokes!” While he is greatly missed, Doug’s work for the kingdom will live on through the missionaries he supported, the students he helped train and the countless lives he touched through his work with the Center for Advancing Healthcare Missions. He truly embraced the vision of bringing the hope and healing of Christ to the world through healthcare, and we were honored to serve alongside him as he passionately fulfilled his mission of introducing others to his Savior, Jesus Christ.
