New Christian Medical Training Program in Egypt

In partnership with MedSend, an Egyptian hospital is equipping a new generation of compassionate healthcare providers through a Christian medical training program. This specialized program is preparing residents not only to deliver skilled medical care but also to minister to their patients with the love and hope of Christ. The program’s director, Dr. A*, recently shared the inspiring growth and impact of the four MedSend National Scholars currently training in the program.

A Growing Team of Dedicated Christian Medical Residents

Under Dr. A’s leadership, the residency program now includes four committed Christian residents—two first-year and two second-year residents. These young doctors, MedSend National Scholars, are preparing for exams while shouldering demanding clinical responsibilities. Their dedication to this Christian medical training program in Egypt exemplifies the commitment to bringing both healing and faith to their patients.

Valuable Lessons from Cameroon

To strengthen the program, Dr. A traveled to Cameroon this past December to observe the MedSend-supported residency program at Mbingo Hospital. His visit offered valuable insights into what a mature training program looks like and how it can function effectively, providing both medical and spiritual care. This experience is vital in shaping the program at his hospital, as Dr. A works to ensure it operates effectively in serving both clinical and spiritual needs.

MedSend’s Vision for Expanding Medical Missions in Africa

According to Rick Allen, MedSend CEO, “MedSend’s partnership with these mission hospital residency programs is bearing much fruit. We have now offered 125 scholarships in 15 nations throughout Africa and Asia. [Our Egypt location] is one of the newest locations and it is a fine example of the potential to increase the number of Christ-centered doctors throughout the region. Our goal is to support their growth into the future.”

MedSend’s vision is clear: to support and expand programs like the one in Egypt, enabling more healthcare missionaries to train and serve with excellence across the globe.

The Impact of Faith and Fellowship in Medical Training

In addition to rigorous medical training, the residents gather each Friday for a time of spiritual reflection, joining together in daily Bible readings and prayer. Every other week, residents or faculty members share a message during morning chapel services, and once a month, they meet to discuss a spiritual book. This blend of professional and spiritual growth equips them to serve their patients holistically, bringing physical healing as well as spiritual hope.

Caring Beyond the Clinic Walls

One of the newest aspects of this Christian medical training program in Egypt is pastoral home visits. Residents and faculty now make follow-up visits to recently discharged patients, providing not only medical follow-up but also friendship and prayer. These visits allow the residents to witness their patients’ lives in their communities, providing encouragement and support during challenging times. This approach goes beyond traditional medical care, fostering a deep, lasting bond with patients and their families.

Your Support Empowers the Next Generation

The impact of this Christian medical training program in Egypt would not be possible without the generosity of MedSend donors. Your support enables these dedicated residents to pursue advanced medical training without the burden of student debt and to focus on providing compassionate, Christ-centered care.
