FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FORT MILL, S.C. — MedSend recently hosted the inaugural Mission Leadership Retreat, bringing together the heads of ten of the largest mission sending organizations for a first-of-its-kind gathering focused on collaboration, strategic innovation, and shared challenges across the missions landscape.
Led by MedSend CEO Rick Allen, the retreat was designed to create space for executive leaders to think together, learn from one another, and strengthen relationships that can lead to greater effectiveness across organizations serving around the world.
The result was a strong and immediate sense of unity in purpose.
Throughout the retreat, leaders openly discussed trends affecting their organizations, operational challenges, and emerging opportunities. While each ministry serves in distinct contexts, many of the issues raised were found to be widely shared across the group. That common ground created momentum for deeper collaboration and practical problem-solving.
Participants also identified opportunities to pursue new strategies and processes that could strengthen long-term effectiveness across the broader missions ecosystem.
“Many of the most significant challenges facing mission organizations today are larger than any one ministry,” said Rick Allen, CEO of MedSend. “When trusted leaders come together with humility and a willingness to learn from one another, new possibilities emerge. We were encouraged by the level of candor, mutual respect, and commitment in the room.”
MedSend was uniquely positioned to convene the gathering through its long-standing relationships with mission sending organizations across the healthcare missions community. By serving alongside many organizations individually over time, MedSend has developed the trust and perspective needed to help create meaningful connections across the sector.
One of the clearest outcomes of the retreat was the group’s shared commitment to continue meeting at regular intervals. Leaders expressed a strong desire to deepen these relationships, maintain open channels of communication, and work together to address future obstacles with greater alignment and creativity.
The Mission Leadership Retreat reflects MedSend’s broader commitment to strengthening global healthcare missions not only through direct program support but also by investing in the relationships, leadership, and collaborative structures that help mission organizations thrive.
For over 35 years, MedSend has helped healthcare professionals serve in places where care is urgently needed and has supported the training of national physicians who are transforming healthcare systems from within.
