MedSend Celebrates Dr. Matthew Loftus Winning Gerson Memorial Prize 

Fort Mill, SC — MedSend is delighted to celebrate Dr. Matthew Loftus, a MedSend-supported physician serving in Kenya, as the inaugural recipient of the 2025 Michael J. Gerson Memorial Prize for Excellence in Writing on Faith and Public Life.  
 
Awarded by The Trinity Forum, the Gerson Prize honors emerging writers whose work reflects the intellectual courage, moral conscience, and rooted Christian faith exemplified by the late Michael J. Gerson. Gerson was a prominent writer, White House speechwriter, Washington Post columnist, and advocate for connecting faith with public life.  
 
Dr. Loftus was recognized for his body of writing that thoughtfully engages questions of faith, medicine, human dignity, culture, and the role of Christian thought in public discourse. His work has appeared in national outlets including The New York Times, The AtlanticChristianity Today, and The New Atlantis. His first book, Resisting Therapy Culture: The Dangers of Pop Psychology and How the Church Can Respond, is scheduled for release in Spring 2026. 
 
MedSend has supported Dr. Loftus’s service at mission hospitals in East Africa for years, and his recognition with the Gerson Prize underscores the unique combination of clinical practice and thoughtful engagement with culture and faith that defines his work. 
 
In announcing the award, The Trinity Forum noted Loftus’s writing as a compelling contribution to conversations at the intersection of faith and public life, embodying both clarity and moral depth.
