When Dr. Atnafu Alemayehu left Ethiopia with his new bride to begin family medicine residency training in Kenya, he carried more than medical textbooks and ambition; he carried a calling.
“As a Christ-minded physician, my passion is to reach the unreached,” he says.
Now in his second year of training at Tenwek Mission Hospital through Kabarak University, Dr. Atnafu is living that mission out daily, offering not only expert clinical care but also the hope of the gospel to his patients.
“It amazes me how much God is using me in the personalized spiritual journeys with my patients,” he shares. “We continue seeing God in our everyday lives.”
Life has brought both joy and sorrow in recent months. Dr. Atnafu and his wife celebrated the early arrival of their daughter, Abigael, and mourned the recent passing of his mother. Through it all, his heart remains anchored in his purpose—to serve as a bridge for healing, both physical and spiritual.

“Medsend has continued to support us financially, even through prayers as we serve in these regions.”
