In rural Uganda, babies are born into overwhelming odds.
But thanks to MedSend support, nurse Kacie Forrest is standing in the gap offering life-saving care in moments where every second matters.
Kacie works in Bundibugyo General Hospital’s NICU and maternity wards. There, she sees God’s love in action every day. One of the most unforgettable moments happened during a routine labor that turned into an emergency.
Finding the Words to Say Thank You
“We had a mother come in who had a perfectly normal labor, but the baby wasn’t breathing,” Kacie said. “We ended up having to resuscitate the baby directly on the mother’s abdomen. She was watching the entire time.”
That day, Kacie was also training students using the “Helping Babies Breathe” program. The baby recovered and began crying, turning pink, and was safely placed in their mother’s arms.
“She looked up and found the English words to say, ‘Thank you so much’,” Kacie shared. “That moment meant the world to me. I feel that exact same gratitude for the donors through MedSend that have allowed us to live and serve in this area.”
How You Can Help Support and Sustain Healthcare Missionaries
That newborn lived because Kacie and her team of national nurses were trained, equipped, and present at the right time.
Help fund the training of more national healthcare workers on the frontlines of critical care in low-resource communities today.
