How MedSend Helped National Scholar Tadeo Katuramu Step Into His Calling

MedSend National Scholar Tadeo Katuramu

When Medsend National Scholar Tadeo Katuramu was eight years old, he could not have imagined becoming a doctor. His family had been evicted from their home, and he worked in the fields to pay school fees. But with the help of faithful believers and eventually a scholarship from MedSend, his story changed course. Today, Tadeo is a family medicine doctor at Kapsowar Mission Hospital in Kenya—serving newborns, praying with patients, and thanking donors who made it possible.

Watch the full video interview below to hear Tadeo tell his story in his own words:

“I was ready to give up.”

Tadeo grew up in Uganda, supported by the Good Samaritan Project after his family lost everything. Though he earned his medical degree, finding work was nearly impossible. “I had the skill, but I could not get a job,” he recalled. “I was teaching mathematics to survive.”

At a breaking point, a door opened—Kabarak University’s Family Medicine residency program. But tuition seemed out of reach. Then came the MedSend National Scholars Program

MedSend Donors Changed Everything

“With all the help… at the point I thought I was giving up. Then there was MedSend,” Tadeo said. “They helped me through paying all my tuition, monthly stipend for those four years. Without them, truly, I don’t know—maybe I would be teaching mathematics.”

Today, Tadeo is serving patients daily and praying with each one. “It gives me joy to see a mother leaving the newborn unit holding her baby, smiling.”

Faith That Endures

Tadeo’s story is marked by perseverance and faith. “Whenever I have something that I think is so hard and I’m about to give up, God brings something I didn’t know was bigger,” he said. “Thank you MedSend. Thank you all the donors, everyone who has come in to help not only me but so many other doctors out there.”

Your Giving Opens Doors

Tadeo’s story isn’t just about one man—it’s about the power of generosity that changes lives and equips national doctors to bring compassionate care and the gospel to the world.
