When orthopedic surgeon Dr. Dan Galat and his family moved to Kenya, he couldn’t ignore the overwhelming number of patients in need — and the lack of trained specialists to care for them. What began as an unsustainable workload soon became a movement that is shaping the future of healthcare in Africa.
Dr. Galat helped establish an orthopedic residency program at Tenwek Hospital, where MedSend National Scholars are trained not only in surgery, but in spiritual leadership — prepared to serve in the hardest-to-reach regions.
Today, Dr. Marvin Wekesa and his wife Mourine, a MedSend National Scholar, are serving in a remote area of Kenya as national medical missionaries. Their work is advancing the Gospel and providing life-changing care to communities with little access to medical help.
